Number of Players on the field: 7 Men & 3 Women - minimum to start is 6 Men & 2 Women
Length of Game: 7 Innings or 55 minutes
Batting order: male, male, female, male, male, female (women may bat more than once in the line up, but they must rotate) - if you only have 2 women, the 3rd female spot is an out. THE LINE UP MUST BE SET IN THE BOOK BEFORE THE GAME STARTS
EVERY PLAYER IN ATTENDANCE MUST BE IN THE LINE UP - FOR INSTANCE, IF YOU HAVE 5 WOMEN IN ATTENDANCE, ALL 5 MUST BE IN THE LINE UP, NOT JUST 3 WOMEN SPOTS AND THE WOMEN ROTATE THROUGH THOSE 3 SPOTS.
Forfeit Time: is 10 minutes after game time
Infield Fly Rule: Applies if first and second bases are occupied with less than 2 outs. An out will be called if an infielder can make a play on the ball with a reasonable amount of effort. Runners may advance at their own risk.
The Count: Each batter comes to the plate with 1 Ball & 1 Strike
Fouls: A foul with 2 strikes, is an out - a foul ball is foul even if the fielding team makes a play on it and misses it.
Sliding: You may slide head first only (no feet first sliding at all), unless make any contact - they you are out. If you are deemed to be aggressively sliding as to distrupt the play, then you will be out for 3 innings...if it happens again, you are out for the remainder of the game and under review from the league commissioner. All Players must "give themselves up" if a player covering a base is waiting with the ball to make a play on the runner. Any player who runs over another player intentionally is immediately ejected. - phantom tags are not allowed at any time and are subject to ejection - a player who does not have the ball must allow the runner to access the base...Especially home plate.
Overthrows: Two bases from the release of the ball which has gone out of play.
Base Running: No leading off. A runner may not leave the base until the ball is hit. All play is live until timeout is called and granted by the umpire.
Pitching: The ball must be pitched underhand 6 to 10 feet and must cross over the plate at a height between the batters highest shoulder and knees, when in the normal batting position.
Strike Zone: a ball that fulfills the requirements listed in Pitching
Pinch Runners: Are not allowed. Exception: if a batter or base runner becomes injured while running the bases, they my be pinch run for by the person of the same gender, who made the prior out.
When in doubt, all rules decisions revert to the American Softball Association of America (ASA) rules. Rulings of the umpire are final.
This is a social league, any player deemed to be 'out of control' and a potential harmful threat to any other player on the field may be removed from the game for a time period of the umpire's discretion (up to and possibly including the balance of the game).
Please hit to get on base, not to crush the ball and possibly risk hurting someone with a line-drive...this is a social league and although we like to play hard, please remember that this is not the big leagues and player's safety comes before all else!
